| Artist Penny Burke
graduated from UNH in 1973 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree majoring
in Art with and undeclared minor in Plant Science. A member of
the Lakes Region Artists Association, her special interests are
working in two dimensional arts (graphite and oil medium). In
the early 1980's, she substitute taught in the Laconia School System
in all levels and enjoyed teaching drawing and oil painting in the
Adult Education Evening Program. She has also held private
classes in her home as well as doing commission work.
From 1997 through 2004,
Penny created nearly fifty original twenty one inch Teddy Bears in
different outfits for various occasions. All were either sold or
adopted with certificates of authenticity. Since 1974, she was
employed as a floral designer and worked at the management level for
a few years until finally retiring after thirty years in the
industry.
After living nearly
thirty years in Laconia with husband Ray and raising two children,
both have retired and now live in New Hampton on Lake Winona. She
currently enjoys displaying some of her art at the Imagine Gallery
and the Taylor Home in Laconia. Prints can also be found at
the Country Cottage on Rt. 104 in New Hampton. Other work is
on display in her home and can be seen by appointment as well as
arranging private lessons or commissioned work.
