Gisela –or Gila- Langsten was born and raised
in Germany and studied art in Hamburg. After working in package
design and graphic art she picked up oil painting as a hobby.
Living in New Hampshire it seemed so natural to be fascinated by the
landscape and it became her major interest. She keeps up life
drawing, tries her hand at water color and sculpting, but always
comes back to oil. The atmospheric moods of lake and mountains
present a challenge and draw her to working outside, painting “plein
air.” You will find that much of her work is done on location.
